'Love Bites' Halestorm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmkHqUwa4zg

This music video is completely performance based. Although, despite this it is interesting to watch because it is so energetic. It gives the audience a sort of 'pumped' feeling; it gives them energy. However, i feel that this would be inappropriate in our music video because it is about zombies. It shows that the artists are really into the song and are quite relaxed about playing (the drummer puts his feet up during the song). They aren't nervous because they feel at ease with the instruments they play and enjoy playing them. We can see this by the intensity on the bands face as they play. The lead singer seems to be singing to the audience, we thought this would be good to use in our music video to try and get the emotion of our song and music video across to the audience.

It is completely in black and white. It gives the impression that what the lyrics are saying is plain and simple. It also makes us think of good and bad, like there is one right path in the story told by the lyrics. The band is dressed all in dark colours including the lead singer which is unusual in music videos as the lead singer normally stands out against the band. Although, her outfit is much more feminine because of the net whereas the bands outfits are more plain.

The first thing we see in this video is the drummer which is unusual as the drummer normally just blends into the background. I liked this idea because it gave the video individuality and independence. It makes the video memorable. We used the image of the logo on the drums to try and recreate this idea.

Although, this video is much more towards the 'hard' end of rock, we thought it would be a good idea to analyse it because it uses a lot of hand-held camera movement that we would like to use in our video. Also, it is one of the few rock bands with a female lead singer. We thought that it could help us direct Jess in a rock-like fashion and it also gives us an idea of how to dress her in order for her to stand out from the band but to suit the song as well.
